Hey guys and gals. REALLY like the LHBA homes and the methods of construction. Found the site looking for kits (egads) to build a log home. My father has a great kit built home he built himself, but I like the look of the natural logs, also the method of "butt and pass" with the rebar "pins".
Was curious if anyone is in the East TN or West NC area that could chat about the process and maybe see a cabin. I plan to take the class, but that will be at a future time. I have 28.5 acres to work with and currently live on the property in a stick built house. The property itself has about 40-50K worth of standing healthy timber that I figure would make a very nice cabin.
I have a background in construction (spent 5 years a Navy Seabee) and interior remodeling, lighting, plumbing, sheetrock, painting etc. I know the class would very enlightening and a great learning experience all the same and I DO look forward to going.
So from the new guy here, I just wanted to say hey and if anyone has advice or ideas just holler at me. Thanks!
