I started a thread on this issue a couple of years ago...

I remember that thread, even responded to it. Loved the one with the new trout pond.
I was thinking inside pictures. How are the layouts? Does it look cramped?

Here's a 6x6 with a 6x6 porch. Started out as an outhouse but grew a flush toilet. Patty and I were married on the porch.

You know, LHN, 99.999% of the time, you're pulling our legs. But this time I can't decide. Did you really get married in/on an outhouse?

He did, he built it too.

Look again. I neglected to mention that it is a chapel also.

No legyanking here. We invited 75 friends for a BarBQ. When everyone came up from the river to fetch the pig out of the pit, we announced that this preacher guy (the only stranger in attendance) was gonna marry us.

Those are hand-rived cedar shakes. As a recent left leg amputee, you may have noticed my lack of a prosthesis in this photo. Yes Patty is pigeon-toed.

As for your 99.999% estimate... John, once you are on the member's side you'll have access to the LHBA BSometer. My rating on the good side is very near 40% and that is no bullshirt.

A few years since then, and hopefully many more to come. Cheers! :)

dvb, do you have any closer pics of your joist hangars? Three pieces of angle iron stuck together is what it looks like to me? If so, I like that design.

Got a good one all finished, furnished that you wouldn't mind putting out here?

I'd post a link to my Dog Cabin thread but I don't know how to do that!

Don't know that it would help. If I remember correctly, you didn't have any joist hangers in the Dog Cabin.

Sorry--no joist hangers or gutters.

The most important things I learned from doing this in about 8 hours without any forethought at all is that you can literally throw together a square cabin just as fast as you want to--without any real need for plans whatsoever--very, very quickly--all by yourself--and it will be around for a long, long time due to the LHBA techniques used.

When I build my first cabin without bark (or gutters) that actually has a suspended floor, I now know that I can just knock it out as fast as I want to without fear that I'm going to screw something up. I don't think that even I can screw up one of these, God willing.

Yes, they are just 2"x1/4" angle iron welded together. I will make a change on the next set, instead of angle iron across the bottom, I will use 2" strap. No need for the flange on the bottom.

Could be made without welding. Make two cuts on one leg of the angle, heat it up leg opposite the cuts, and bend into a U on a makeshift anvil/jig.

Hey bud, what is the make of your kitchen appliances? I'd love to look those up and see if they are affordable. They look so cool!

Came across this on Facebook today, it's an 10x17 that was built 7 years ago, then put on a trailer and moved from Utah to Idaho. A friend of mine happened to like the page and it popped up in my news feed. I don't know these people at all. https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=715149555175275

Someone built a sweet 20x20 beside a lake with HUGE logs, I can't recall who it was.
