Boy oh boy! You are excited Patrick!
Here's a link:

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the student log homes link and that should take you to many photos of members' homes.

Once you show her the pictures (don't let her miss Pinecone Pam's house), drag her, if necessary, to one of the member homes. You can't appreciate it until you walk in one. The feeling of mass and solidity (if that's a word) is incredible. My wife was an eye roller when I started talking about log homes until she walked in one.

Patrick,
The very best thing to bring her to your side is to take her to an association home builders cabin in process. Then just stand back and watch her jaw drop. You are out in New York aren't you.....I am out in the west. Ask the blog who is building near you then take a day and drive over. I wish I could be there to watch your reactions.

If you don't think it makes a difference to see one in person, ask her how many square feet our place is. A clue... it is square with a 1/2 loft.

X2.
Building your own log home (or any home for that matter if you do it yourself) is a huge undertaking and you both have to be 100% committed. It is worth it if you can both attend the class, if not, you will constantly be trying to explain the reason you should do it *this way* instead of *her way*. If she also takes the class, her way will be the ideal way since she'll have the class knowledge as well.

Very much so.
And if your wife is anything like mine is, she'll remember, and be able to remind you about all the points you have forgotten.
Get her to go to class with you, it'll save you money in the long run. And then figure out how to go visit an LHBA building. It'll make TONS of sense then.
