Well, I can say I had my first tenants stay in our finished log home.
They were actually friends from Texas, who came here to hunt elk with me (here in Utah).
As some of you know, my build was/is 30x30 with a 3/4 loft.
Outside temps have been just below freezing and in the 60's, on average, during the day.
Anyway, I am amazed at how well a log home heats. Over the 4 days they were here, we started a fire 2-3 times (never really needed to). When we started up our wood stove at night, it could burn for a few hours and the the temps woulds be in the high 60's-70 still, the following afternoon. We did not need to run our natural gas stove at all.
I believe my large woodpile is going to last a lot longer than I previously thought! When my kids move away, me and my wife may be downsizing our living quarters and moving there full time!
