Hey everyone,
i was wondering if anyone has any information on using beetle kill wood to make their log home?
I've heard its stronger than regular wood?
It's in such abundance - does anyone know if you can purchase/ log it for cheap $$$???
thanks

I know that Mt Hood Forest has a lot of beetle kill wood recently.
I noticed on Jay Leno a week ago that Tom Green did a segment from the Olympics in Italy. He was at some Lodge the the Canadian government set up. They said all the logs and wood was from beetle kill.

Hey,
If I'm not mistaken, beetle kill trees should be just fine. When the beetles kills a tree, they girdle the bark near the ground. This cuts of nutrients to the tree, and the tree dies. I would be careful and spray for other bugs like the flat head wood borer. There are threads concerning this on the forum.
