I have a question about radiant heat barrier and foil back foam boards.
I am installing a roof on an addition to my home, the roof will be from bottom up as follows.
1. 4" x 8" beams
2. 2 x 6 tongue and groove
3. weather guard (heavy duty tar paper due to the low slope)
4. 2 layers of 4.25" polystyrene foam with foil on one side
5. 2 x 4 sleepers
6. foil back osb
7. 30# tar paper
8. 29 gauge metal.

The osb manufacturer recommends to install osb foil down on top of sleepers.
My question is i have foil backing on the insulation, do i face it up towards the foil on the osb, or this going to cause a problem? or do i just ignore the foil on the back of the insulation and use the foil on the osb? From what i have read the foil does nothing without the air gap.

Any help here would be great, thanks!

Totally Confused,
Steve

Everything I've read recommends foil toward where you want vapor barrier. Depends alot on climate. Not sure if this helps, good luck with the project.
