Hello. This site is so awesome and I have been wanting to register for a class for a long time. I may be able to make the class in May, but my question is this: is it essential that the logs you use be cut down in winter?

I will hopefully take the class this spring, and start some construction this summer but I won't get very far if I have to wait until next winter to cut trees. Purchasing logs is maybe an option..

There are benefits from winter cut logs such as lighter weight, less prone to rot and less checking but you can cut whenever you need to. Spring and summer cut is easier to peal.
