hi
cool forum
i have 16 acres of mixed hardwoods and several acres of southern yellow pine . i have a 1300 sq ft double wide and i want a log addition . which species should i use , tulip poplar or yellow pine ? can i mix these species ? or could i use one for the walls and one for the beams and rafters ? i am going to take a tree count this weekend . also have red &white oak , hickory , beach , elm , and magnolia . so i may have a hickory milled for flooring .
also , do yaul like round log or square log construction . i have acess to a sawmill who will pickup and bring back square timbers for a cheap price . i could use them with a half dovetail joint . just a thought
thanks
