Ok, this may raise a few eyebrows but I have a question. Can anyone see any long term problems with putting a stone veneer on the entrance way to my house. I know it will be covering up some beautiful logs but Im not talking about the entire wall, just a small portion. I am already going to cover the concrete foundation with rock. Anyone that has ever been to Arkansas knows that the state is covered in rock and my land is no exception. I am trying to make the home a part of the landscape and use as many natural materials from my land as possible and just tossing around ideas..

Don't see why not. Though i'd probably cut out the logs in that area, frame the space (install door or whatever) then install the stone over the conventially framed part of the wall. Trying to put stone over log would be... Erm not sure how to put it... Challenging?

Have you already built your house?
If you haven't built it yet, wouldn't it be a better method to actually build a stone entrance way in the gap you leave or cut for it.
If you have built it already, I wonder if it would trap moisture against the logs... but I'll listen to the experts opinions eagerly!

I agree with Christofori. that's why we're choosing to do rock on our walk out basement walls only. really wanted a rock fireplace going up the the outside on the north but was very worried about moisture so we'll not be doing that :)

The house isn't built yet. I'm probably going to have to quit my job to do it , I'm getting ready to retire anyway. Everything is in the planning stages at this point and just running ideas through my head .
