Because of the slope I have I was going to build a basement into my house but I really dont want the extra sq footage. Could I build the foundation the same as a basement, or a really tall crawl space and then back fill it with dirt and pour a slab over the top of it.. It would still have the same support for the rpsl . Does anyone see any problem with doing it this way?

you could, a stepped foundation would be a better solution to not wanting a basement/ building on a slope

I really wanted a stamped and stained concrete floor in the house is why I was wondering if I could do it that way.

with a stepped stem wall your just eliminating the dig out a basement then fill it back in part
