Help - We are have problems chinking with mortor

We have a OLD log cabin and we tried to use mortor to fill the cracks between the logs but it did not stick to the logs and is falling off and is VERY loose in other places. What do you suggest we do? This is just a cabin for fun, not to be lived in and we don't want to spend a lot of money BUT we do want it sealed and weather proof.

Yep, you discovered that motar will not stick to wood. You'll need to come up with a mechanical fastener to secure to the wood, which can be embedded in the mortar.

    Here's how someone did it...

Here's an example of how someone did it. Simple and cheap too!

1" strips of fiberglass insulation work too, if you don't wanna do squirty-foam.
