    Settling after 7-10% moisture

Hello from WI. Built a single story 20' x 20' red pine log cabin in my pole shed about 3 years ago. It sat assembled for about 2 years and then we disassembled it and stored it to the side. Hauled it to TX where it is now assembled. About a month ago I cut in a rough opening to get in and out and immediately checked the moisture content of the logs and they were between 7.5 - 10.5% on all four logs I cut. My question is do I still need to allow for settling above doors and windows?

You'll want to leave some based on the wall height above said openings

You'll have to upload them to a photo hosting site like imagur or photobucket etc.

Cut the trees down in March-April by June they were all stacked in place. 5' overhang above deck, 3' overhang on the sides, there is a front porch roof structure that is framed with logs that is not in these pics. It is resting on top of a walk out, permanent wood foundation at this time.

That style of build will need settling spaces and sliders in the window and door bucks.

Every time I have strayed from the teachings of Skip Ellsworth it has cost me money.

I love the mask mandate. I hardly ever have to bruh my teeth anymore.
