How many people are living in <20x20 log homes?

We will be living in a 26x28 above the garage this summer before starting on the house. Should be fun!

Look back at how our Grandparents lived when they was kids. A 20x20 with modern heat and electricity would have seemed like a palace to my Grandma. She lived in a tenthouse down near the dump (where the Mall is nowadays) til the year she went to school. Yet, she always talked about it like it was normal and she had a good time.

If and when I ever start my cabin, I would likely build something smaller, say 20x20. With a small loft, that would be perfect for me and maybe a dog and a cat. I like small, cozy spaces -- I'm digging this new "tiny house" movement -- and a two-story 35x35 home just seems too big for little ol' me.

We're all rooting for "when", not "if", just saying... But I've got way too many hobbies for the tiny house movement....and too many kids. pick your poison.....

Of course, if you decide to add on later, you can add a wrap around porch, and then frame it in. That's one of the beauties of this method- you have a lot more options on where to put things after the fact like doors and windows than you do with a framed home.

I dunno, 40x40 with a full drive-under shop / basement sounds about right to me...

Of course the wife, 4 kids, and dog are probably going to want to come over sometimes so it might get a little cramped.

24 x 24 here - getaway cabin. Easy to clean and keeps visitors to short stays.

I'm building my detached 36x45 garage this summer, with slab heat hooked up to an outdoor wood boiler....with a car lift I bartered with Dan in Colorado for....can't wait to work on projects in a t shirt while it's 20 degrees outside.
